Australia's East Coast Gems

With the beautiful global cities of Sydney and Melbourne dominating the tourist agenda for Australia's East coast, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that along the entire coastline are literally hundreds of equally fascinating attractions and highlights that are not to be missed. The best thing is that many of these experiences are located within a day's drive from a major city, so if you do your research you can experience both the big cities and the smaller, more rural ones. From a breathtaking Blue Mountains tour to a bush walk in some of Australia's most stunning rainforest, we've created a list of some of the best of what Australia's east coast has to offer. Trust us, you wont be disappointed!

The Blue Mountains

Located just outside of Sydney, the Blue Mountains are a spectacular mountain range with an interesting history. Featuring beautiful rock formations (most notably the 'Three Sisters'), quaint townships and stunning scenery, the Blue Mountains is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of this country.

The Sunshine Coast

A mere couple of hours' drive north of the glitz of the Gold Coast and the buzz of Brisbane lies the idyllic Sunshine Coast of Queensland, a chilled-out, slow-paced surf oasis of white sand beaches, quirky cafes and tanned locals. With a tropical climate and a focus on living the good life, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect spot for a few days of sun, surf and swimming without the hoards of people.

The Daintree

Far in Australia's North lies one of the most extraordinary ecosystems you're ever likely to experience. The Daintree Rainforest is North of Cairns and covers around 1200 square kilometres of land. Hosting 30% of the frog and marsupial population of Australia, and a whopping 65% of Australia's bird and bat life, the Daintree Rain-forest is, quite literally, bursting with life.

Phillip Island

A few hours' drive out of Melbourne is beautiful Phillip Island, a stunning natural haven that is home to one of the largest colonies of Little Penguins in the world. The Phillip Island Penguin Parade is a spectacle where these fascinating creatures come ashore and attracts tourists from all over the world. Our advice is to book a Phillip Island tour and take in all the nature this gem has to offer!

Australia's East Coast is peppered with some of the most beautiful scenery, ecosystems and attractions in the Southern Hemisphere, so make sure that you take the time to experience as many of these wonders as possible during your travels.
